Major Note By Major!: All of the graphics on the site were made by Raider, he is ultimately one of the coolest people I have ever met. For instance, he created the banner you see above. I just need to give him some Awesome credit here.
Finally I've come to terms with the opening of The Chicago Project. It's virtually 99.9 percent complete and is now fully role playable, there are only a few bits here and there that require some tweaking, but that's about it. From this exact point in time a total of 17 members have joined helping the developement of the site, and 7 characters created that are each already Role Playing I believe. In the discussion section there are a number of threads and polls that have been created that have a number of replies that you may like voicing your opinion in, many with extremely interesting topics and theories that have been produced. Below is some more information about the site that might interest you and give you more of an understanding on the Role Play Mechanics, Additions to the site, and a rough version of the story for whats going on inside Role Play. Hope to see you onboard at The Chicago Project!
Role Play Mechanics:
- A story that stays very close to the canon story of the main Resident Evil franchise. Although branching off in a new direction, the story changes and keeps up to date with each game release that furthers and clarifies the story.
- Two different side, "Umbrella" and "New Nation" that can be chosen from. Each side has their own sub teams, or "Factions" that will define how your character operates within their Role Play, and aiding their team. The choice is mandatory, and your character must be part of one of the sides. This, however, does not affect freedom in your story. There is still a lot of free movement that can be used with in the Role Play.
- When you choose which side your character is going to be a part of, your account is instantly moved to a group that shows which side you're connected to. Doing this allows you to see hidden boards that are visible to your side, but invisible to your opposition. E.g. Umbrella character only sees the "Umbrella Base" but not the "New Nation Base" and vice versa.
- There are lists of missions that each side can choose from, these missions each are different and requires the specialties of certain Factions from each side in order to complete. The missions aid substantially to your side and you are given credit for each mission your participate in. The lists update whenever missions begin to lessen to a low amount.
- There are canon characters available, however the required thresh hold in order to Role Play as one is severely hightened. Thus making it fair so that we know who has a good understanding of the character and will Role Play well as them, and who wouldn't be good at the role equaling in them not deserving it. Only one canon character is allowed for each member though, meaning that there is a wide variety to choose from for everyone else, and there isn't 1 member with 3 canon characters.
- Two major locations are used for the Role Play, Chicago, and The City of New Nation. These both have a substantial amount of locations to choose from.
- There are no world wide locations available, it was decided that: Until the site grew larger, no effort would be placed into making world wide locations available. In future updates world wide locations will definitely be given though.
- There are also two boards for In Character that helps you to join a group for Role Playing and also helps you to establish the story of your character and further their mental and physical developement and connections with other In Game characters
Other Additions:
- There is an entire section of the board dedicated to chatting about the Games, Spin-Offs, Books and Movies of the franchise. Also Miscelanious discussion for those things that may not be connected all that well to any of the franchises and discussion on which direction the storyline will be taken in.
- Other usual places to dwell in, a writers and reviewers corner, a graphics corner, Non-Resident Evil discussion corner, Games corner and even a Role Play training ground for those people who want some advice on Role Playing, or think they can help someone out with their Role Playing issues.
Story:
1998, October 1st. The President signs an agreement for the bombing of Raccoon City sending in a cruise missile in order to destroy the entire city and surrounding landscape, one particular patch of land called the Arklay Forest was entirely wiped out along with the settlement. It is believed that this final counter measure eliminated all living organisms that had been infected by the T-virus. However, the outbreak had breached estimates, and a very small number of carriers had escaped the blast radius.
Over the course of ten years finds the end and rebirth of Umbrella into a new, legitimate Corporation. Under the radar though are reports of murders through out the United States, however this only occuring from the original Raccoon City outbreak, and having no connection with the current Umbrella Corp.
2008, January 1st. In the three months towards the new year from 2007 is when the second outbreak occurs. This time reaching much wider than Raccoon City. The United States were evacuated and quaruntined, only a handful of 5 States remained under human control, even then only being controlled by the remaining US military and several foreign militaries. Canada and South America were both declared officially cut off from the States, and then the country wide cleanup was placed into operation.
Land in South Africa was used for the survivors, which were quite a majority. A huge amount of it was landscaped and a massive city was built. Much support was sent in from suporting countries all over the world to help build the city. In the end, it was undoubtedly dubbed "New Nation", a home for the survivors of the States outbreak.
Through the course of time from 1998 to 2006 found all of the Umbrella laboratories and branches being bombed or cleaned out and abandoned, however there was one facility that was entirely unknown of, and all of the employees that knew of its location returned there once their laboratory had been raided by the government. This facility was the Chicago Facility, and remained untouched throughout the entire outbreak and remains in secret even to this date.
The head of the corporation, Albert Wesker, chose the time to be perfect in opening a new operation he labelled "The Chicago Project". The Project would take time however, and required one extremely important item that Wesker had been trying to find from the past two years, yet remained elusive.
Meanwhile, several survivors of past experiences were aware that Wesker was still at large, and knew that the experiences wouldn't end until he was finished. It was obvious to them that the owner of Umbrella Corp. was Wesker. In this fact, it was concluded that they would need their own operating force to oppose that of the private army, the Umbrella Security Service (Or U.S.S.). Seeing as The survivors didn't have any hard evidence on Wesker, their group was rather small, so in turn they decided to call themselves the "New Natio Minority", or just Minority for short and lead by former Raccoon City Police Department S.T.A.R.S. division Chris Redfield.. They gathered fundings in order to establish their own base of operations without having their backs burned by the eye of the New Nation council.
At the moment, both the Minority and Umbrella have come towards an invisible cease fire. Umbrella itself struggling to keep their underground operation and Chicago facility in operation, gather resources in order to continue successfully.
The Outcome is uncertain.
